The 29th Ordinary session of the Assembly of African Union (Au) in Addis Ababa ended with the unanimous agreement of African leaders, to endorse Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to lead Africa’s fight against corruption.
Although the return of the Nigerian President return is quite uncertain, he already has a duty waiting for him. which he has accepted, to perform as a leader in the AU summit scheduled for 2018 entitled; “Winning the fight against corruption; Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation“.

This endorsement said by the Nigeria’s foreign minister, Geoffery Onyema, is in recognition of President’s Buhati’s commitment and success in the fight against corruption in Nigeria. The endorsement is very significant because it is the recognition of the negative role corruption and bad governance had played.

“I think it is also significant that President Buhari was also asked to champion this because, he has been a major inspiration to Africa in frontally combating corruption, and bringing positive change towards building a sustainable and prosperous continent.”

The Nigerian President in his letter to the Guinean President has appreciated him for his prayers, and in his letter dated July 24, 2017 the President read thus, “I thank you for your kind and thoughtful action in organizing nationwide prayers for my health. It is a gesture I will forever cherish and treasure.”


“Your excellency will be pleased to heat that I am making good progress and as soon as doctors advise. I shall return to my duties and continue serving the Nigerian people who elected me and are daily praying for my recovery”.

Keep in mind that the President had already accepted the role as the theme leader of AU anti-corruption scheme, the letter further reads, “I wish to express my readiness to accept this new important role and to reiterate my commitment to contribute towards collective efforts to strengthen good governance and development on the continent. I therefore, look forward to working closely with you in the realization of this objective”.
