It was a historic evening for the Egyptian play-maker who wrote his name in the sands of time as he was crowned the African Player of the year 2017.

The African footballer award of the year is the highest recognition at the Aiteo Caf Awards Gala 2017 which was held on Thursday 2018.

Beaten by Salah in this category were Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, (winner in 2015) and club-mate Sadio Mane of Senegal. With this prestigious award, Salah has become the first Egyptian to win the African Player of the year Award.
